“Promoted Comments” widget settings

To change the “Promoted Comments” widget settings follow the steps below: 

 

1. Log in to your SolidOpinion account:

2. Go to the “Your Sites” tab on the top panel of the website:

3. Find the website you want to change the “Promoted Comments” widget settings for:

4. Click the “Settings” button:

5. Select the “Revenue” tab:

Note: Make sure that one of the promoted widget types is selected as the main one in the “Style” tab (Promoted Comments, Promoted Comments + Regular Comments, Promoted Comments + Regular Comments (folded) or Promoted Headlines), otherwise the “Revenue” tab will be locked for changes

 

 

6. Scroll down the page until you see the “Promoted Comments” heading:

7. Adjust the “Promoted Comments” widget settings:


1) Number of comments displayed in the promoted comments section – this parameter is used to set the number of promoted comments to be displayed in the promoted comments section

2) Minimum bid for a promoted comment – this parameter is used to set a minimum number of points for a user to spend to make a bid

3) Display full comments / Comment length to be displayed – this parameter is used to set the number of comment lines to be displayed in the promoted comments section 

4) Expiration time for a promoted comment –  this parameter is used to set expiration time for promoted comments, which means that the message will be on the top of the promoted comments section for a period of time specified in the settings or until someone outbids it
5) Promoted comments section title – this parameter is used to set the title of the promoted comments section: 

 

For example: “Top Comments”, “Promoted Comments”

6) Placeholder text in the comment text box – this parameter is used to set the placeholder text in the comment text box, which will disappear as soon as a user starts typing their message

7) Display a commenter’s points balance – this parameter is used to enable or disable displaying a commenter’s points balance in the comment area:

8) Promoted comments section short description – this parameter is used to set a short description of the promoted comments section, appearing upon rolling over the help icon:

9) Display a placeholder promoted comment – this parameter is used to set the placeholder promoted comment, in case there are no comments in the discussion yet. It will disappear as soon as the first promoted comment is posted

10) Apply Restricted Words Filter to promoted comments – this parameter is used to enable or disable the Restricted Words Filter on your website. By default promoted comments don’t undergo censorship checks

11) Fill the Promoted Comments section with regular comments, in case there are no promoted comments in the discussion yet

12) Send promoted comments to post moderation – this parameter is used to enable or disable sending promoted comments to post moderation

13) Is it an Ad? – this parameter is used to mark a certain comment as an ad to inform other users that this message is an advertisement

14) Enable posting clickable links only in the Promoted Comments section – this parameter is used to disable posting clickable links in regular comments

15) “Is this an ad?” option description – this parameter is used to add the short description, appearing upon rolling over the “Is this an ad?” option help icon in the bidding window:

8. Confirm the changes in the “Promoted Comments” widget settings by clicking the “Save Changes” button. Once it is done the message: “Settings were successfully updated” will appear at the top of the page.
